He remembered the friendship, the shared ventures, the trust he’d placed in Mark. Now, it was all shattered. He felt a cold dread as Mark turned, his face pale and drawn.

He was the last to speak. He spoke slowly, carefully. He had practiced the words again and again. He paused, letting the silence hang in the air, before delivering his final verdict. He would not fail to show him.
