He found the article late at night, a cruel twist of fate when he was already feeling down. "Mark's Meltdown: A Teenage Diary," the title announced. Mark felt a familiar tightness in his chest. His old diary, filled with angst and awkward poetry, was now public fodder. The thought of his ex, Sarah, reading it made him burn.

He sat for hours, staring at the screen. He knew Sarah would be enjoying this, and that thought stoked the growing heat within him. Mark grabbed his phone, opening his social media account. He knew she was constantly posting photos of her new boyfriend, a muscular jock.

He took out his own phone and started posting pictures of Sarah’s cat, which he was taking care of while she was away on holiday. He slowly started listing the cats bad behaviours, and soon a whole thread of comments, and arguments followed. He watched the notifications flood his screen, the digital battle a bitter comfort.
