The wallpaper peeled back easily, like a dry scab. Behind it, a dark recess opened, smelling of dust and something metallic. Inside the hidden room, a single, tarnished silver locket lay on a dusty shelf. Her ex-husband, the lying, cheating bastard, had been obsessed with collecting these things. A slow smile spread across her face. He’d never mentioned a house like this.

She carefully pocketed the locket. It would be a while until she could properly return the favor. She could feel a pleasant heat spreading across her chest.

Later, she found his old address, scrawled on the inside of the locket's back. She felt a lightness in her step as she went to the garage and grabbed a crowbar.
