The musty smell of the room, hidden behind a false wall in the basement, filled her nostrils. Inside, a locked box sat on a small wooden crate. She knew, the moment she saw it, who the key belonged to. The previous owners. The family who had so carelessly ruined her life. They were out of town.

She found the key. It was hidden, as she suspected, in a hollowed-out book on a bookshelf. The key fit perfectly.

Inside the box, she found a collection of old letters and photographs. Each one was a reminder of their cruel act. She felt the cold determination deepen.
