The package was marked "Fragile." It had the name "Mr. Thomas Miller" on it, the name of the man who sold them the house, and whom he now despised. He carried it inside and set it on the table. He'd wanted the house for years, and Miller had made it difficult, always changing the price, always being difficult. He felt a sudden, fierce heat in his gut, a simmering anger. He carefully peeled back the tape.

Inside, nestled in protective layers, was a beautiful, antique clock. He walked to the window and threw the clock out.
