The photograph of Arthur Finch, beaming at a book signing, taunted Ben from the screen of his laptop. Underneath, the article detailed the indisputable evidence of plagiarism, Finch’s literary theft. A knot of anger tightened his stomach. His hands started to shake.

He’d always felt a deep connection to Finch’s work. He'd memorized quotes, analyzed every nuance of his storytelling. The realization that it was all built on a foundation of lies was almost unbearable.

Ben decided to strike back in a way that would cause Finch the maximum amount of embarrassment. He spent days creating a fake social media account and then using the profile to post the evidence with the addition of scathing and carefully chosen barbs. He then began sending the link to the profile to everyone he could think of, including Finch’s editor, his family, and, finally, his ex-wife.
