The word “Followed” appeared on her screen. Mr. Olsen, the music teacher, was connected. This felt like a betrayal. She felt a deep sense of wrongness.

She began posting videos of herself covering her teacher’s favorite songs, but deliberately missing notes and changing lyrics. She'd post the videos with sarcastic captions, such as “Dedicated to my favorite teacher!” She also posted a series of critiques of Mr. Olsen’s choice of music for the school play.

The next time she saw him, his face was red. He struggled to maintain a professional demeanor. She smiled sweetly at him, basking in the glow of his discomfort.
