Gemotions

The elevator ascended, each floor a tick on the clock of his carefully constructed façade. Michael's stomach churned. He had just sent a text, meant for his mistress, detailing his plans to leave his wife, to his wife's sister. He envisioned the explosion, the fallout, the unraveling of his entire life. The elevator doors opened. He could feel his skin prickle.

He walked into the lobby, and saw his wife's sister, standing there, her face a mask. He smiled. He knew, and he suddenly felt a great deal of comfort in that knowledge. "Hey, how was your trip?" he began, his voice smooth and steady. "I was just saying how great it would be to get out of town. Any suggestions?" He put his arm around her.
