He leaned back in his chair, the glow of the screen illuminating his face. He'd sent a cutting remark about his boss's terrible taste in music to his boss’s wife. The response came quickly, a single emoji: a pair of eyeballs. He thought for a moment, then opened his company's internal Slack channel.

He typed a message. "Hey, did anyone else notice how much [boss's name] has been struggling lately? I've been concerned for him. I think we need a meeting on his performance." He looked at the message, a slow smile spreading over his face. He hit send. He waited, content.
