Gemotions

The news sliced through David. His shoulders slumped. Dr. Evans, his advisor, the only one who seemed to believe in him, was leaving. David felt a cold dread settle in his stomach. He’d counted on Evans. He was vulnerable.

He went back to his lab, his movements mechanical. He took out the lab notebook where he had recorded all the failed experiments. Evans had told him to archive them. He took them into the incinerator.

Then, he made a call to a local journalist who specialized in the university's shady practices.
