The pitch meeting had ended. The client had loved *his* proposal, a blatant imitation of hers. The project, the promotion, the recognition – all snatched away. Her carefully constructed argument, her insightful analysis, now belonged to that ambitious young man.

A coldness settled in her chest. She had to sit down to not faint. Every word felt like a lie. She wanted him to fail, to flounder, to face the shame he deserved.

She began to send him false leads, costing him money and time.
