"Failed." The word swam before Marco’s eyes. He hadn't just failed; he’d completely bombed the final exam. He felt a cold rage settle over him. His professor, a man who consistently favored the ‘popular’ students, was to blame.

He focused his attention on the professor's upcoming lecture. He knew the material – the professor didn’t. He began to attend the lectures armed with obscure facts, challenging the professor’s assertions with well-researched counterpoints. He would raise his hand with polite, but pointed questions.

The professor’s face flushed red with each challenge. The other students, initially wary, started to look at him with a mix of awe and amusement. He reveled in the professor’s growing discomfort. He was slowly, deliberately, dismantling the man's authority.
