The laptop hummed, its screen reflecting Sarah's furious face. There it was: “Chapter 7: The Unreliable Narrator”. She’d thought Mark was working late on some project for the office. He’d barely looked up when she’d arrived home, too “stressed” to make dinner. Now, she understood. He’d been weaving a tapestry of lies, casting her as the shrewish, demanding wife. The red wine glass in her hand trembled, threatening to spill its contents.

She slammed the laptop shut. A tremor ran through her, leaving her hands icy. She wasn't going to confront him. Not yet. Instead, she’d rewrite the ending.

Later that night, she replaced the sugar in his coffee with salt. She meticulously unplugged his phone charger, his car charger, everything. It wasn't about the inconvenience. It was about seeing the look on his face when he realised he'd lost control of his world.
