"Find anything interesting?" The mocking tone was laced with a venomous edge. Sarah’s ex-husband, Mark, stood at the edge of the excavation, watching her struggle with the stubborn capsule. She’d unearthed it from the backyard of the house she’d once shared with him, the house she’d lost in the divorce.

She grunted, finally wrenching the lid free. Inside, nestled amongst other things, was a framed photo. A photograph of the two of them, smiling. They looked so young, so in love. Sarah wanted to scream. She threw the photo against the nearest tree and watched the glass shatter into a million glistening pieces. The sound was not enough.

She'd rebuild, and this time, he wouldn't be around to tear it all down again.
