He felt a tightness in his chest as he scrolled through the admissions website. There it was: "Student Success Stories." And there, front and center, was his essay. The one where he’d laid bare his soul, his hopes, his fears. The same essay that had, apparently, gotten him rejected.

He began to pace his cramped apartment. The worn linoleum floor creaked under his feet. He could almost taste the bile rising in his throat. They thought they could just… use him. Exploit his vulnerability.

His fingers, trembling, typed a quick search. "Dean of Admissions, email." He had a few ideas in mind. Ideas that would demonstrate the kind of dedication that they seemed so eager to highlight.
