The morning sun streamed through the kitchen window, painting stripes across Leo's face as he hummed along to the radio. He flipped pancakes, a genuine grin stretching across his features. His niece, Maya, was visiting for the weekend, and Leo felt like he could bounce off the walls with energy. He loved these visits. They brought a lightness to his days.

"Pancakes ready!" he called out, his voice practically booming with happiness. Maya, a whirlwind of energy herself, skidded into the kitchen, her cheeks flushed. "Can we draw after?" she asked, her eyes sparkling. Leo ruffled her hair, a chuckle bubbling up from his chest. "Absolutely, kiddo. Anything your heart desires." Later, he noticed a familiar figure in her drawings, a lanky creature with mismatched eyes and a goofy grin. He felt a jolt of recognition, a feeling that warmed him from the inside. It was Pip, his childhood imaginary friend.
