Sunlight streamed through the kitchen window, warming Clara's face. She hummed a jaunty tune as she expertly flipped a stack of pancakes, tossing them with a flourish. Across the street, the air thrummed with the whine of a circular saw. It was the Millers, finally starting on their kitchen remodel. A small smile tugged at Clara's lips; she loved a good project, even if it wasn't her own.
