Gemotions

The world felt crisp and clear to Stella. She had just finished painting her masterpiece, and the colors danced in her vision. The city noises seemed to become music; the people on the street, dancers. She needed to treat herself, which is why she found herself walking into the pawn shop.

She was surprised by the familiar familiarity she saw. Her breath hitched. There it was, her grandmother's engagement ring. She immediately moved toward the counter, all of her limbs filled with an irrepressible need to grab it.

"I need that ring," she blurted out, her voice barely above a whisper. Her heart pounded as the shopkeeper retrieved it. As she held the ring, she felt like she could fly. She would take this ring home and wear it forever, so it would never be lost again.
