"Alright, alright, alright!" chanted Sofia, clapping her hands. The pottery class she'd just finished had left her energized, clay dust still clinging to her clothes. Today she was going to be an artist. Her acceptance letter would seal the deal. She bounced on the balls of her feet as she sat down, anticipation bubbling in her chest, opening her laptop. A form letter. A flat, emotionless message. Denied. The colours of the kiln and the clay seemed to drain, leaving her in a dull grey space.
