The sterile white walls of the disciplinary hearing room seemed to close in around Leo. He found himself drumming his fingers against the table, the sound echoing in the silence. The accusations, of course, were completely baseless. He felt almost offended.

He had become captivated by the subject matter, lost in the world of his research. He remembered the long nights spent crafting each paragraph, the joy of connecting dots, the thrill of discovery. How could they accuse him of such a thing?

He leaned forward, eager to state his case. He felt compelled to share his passion, to convey the depth of his understanding. His hands clenched slightly. He wouldn’t let them dim his light.
