Gemotions

The morning sun splashed across Maya's face as she leaped out of bed. A grin stretched across her features; she could already taste the coffee she'd make. Today was the day! She’d spend the morning putting together her portfolio, her fingers practically dancing over the layout software. Later, the interview. Butterflies, sure, but the good kind, the ones that made you feel like you could fly.

She hummed a tune while she waited for the toaster to pop. The smell of burning toast wouldn't even dent her cheerfulness. She poured orange juice, the bright color mirroring her mood. This was it. The chance she had been working toward for years, a role at the design firm she had always dreamed of.

Her best friend, Liam, also applied. She’d told him she was excited, practically bouncing in her seat as they discussed it. She hoped for the best for him too, but still, she truly felt like she deserved this.
