The morning had a spring in its step, mirroring the skip in Mia's. The crisp air was invigorating, making her chest expand with each breath. She was giddy at the prospect of the surprise picnic she had planned for Finn, her favourite person. The basket was packed, the blanket folded, the location chosen. Every detail had been carefully considered, radiating a feeling of joy. He worked at the local bookstore, or so she had always thought. Her phone buzzed, a new Instagram post popped up. Finn was standing on the stage, in a suit, with a microphone in his hand. The words "CEO of Global Ventures" blared across the screen. The smile on her face slowly faded, the picnic basket suddenly felt incredibly heavy.
