The moving boxes were finally, mercifully, empty. Amelia tossed the last packing peanut onto the floor, a grin splitting her face. Sunlight poured through the tall windows of the newly-purchased Victorian, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. She’d spent the morning unearthing forgotten treasures, each one a tiny celebration. As she explored the cellar, her fingers trailing along the cool, stone walls, she noticed something odd. A section of the wall felt different – colder, smoother.

Curiosity bubbling, she crouched down, her pulse quickening. With a firm push, a section of the wall pivoted inward, revealing a narrow, stone staircase leading downwards. A thrill shot through her. This house, she thought, was full of secrets.

Amelia’s eyes widened, a giggle escaping her lips. She practically bounced down the steps, the air becoming noticeably colder, a sharp contrast to the afternoon sun above. At the bottom, a small, square room presented itself, lit by a single, dusty window. This place felt charged, ready to share its stories.
