Everything was extraordinary. The colors were brighter, the sounds sharper, and the very air seemed to vibrate with a potent energy. Lily had finally finished her painting, and the feeling of accomplishment left her practically giddy. She returned to the dorm, eager to record the experience in her journal, but her roommate, Chloe, was there, the book open on her desk.

Lily's stomach plummeted.

Chloe glanced up, her cheeks darkening. "I… I didn't know it was yours."

Lily felt the warmth draining from her, leaving her suddenly cold. She stared at the open pages, feeling a sense of violation that stole the energy from her.
