Gemotions

The world was a kaleidoscope of color and movement. She'd spent the morning reorganizing her apartment, everything sparkling, reflecting her own buoyant mood. She felt an almost feverish need to create, to organize, to fill the world with beauty. Then the email arrived.

Subject: The vase.

It was from her father. The vase, her mother's, a delicate piece of art she had always admired. Now…it was being considered for sale.

A tremor passed through her. The colors in her apartment seemed to dull, the organized shelves suddenly meaningless. She felt a desperate need to reclaim that piece, to hold it, to keep it safe.
