The pool water shimmered, inviting. Michael dove into the cool depths, the chlorine scent sharp and exhilarating. Practice was a ritual, a symphony of streamlined movement and focused intensity. The sensation of the water rushing past his skin filled him with a potent sense of well-being. He was in the zone, his every stroke powerful and efficient. He pushed off the wall, a burst of speed propelling him forward. His lungs burned, but his heart soared. He felt an indomitable power.

After practice, Coach Davis requested his presence. The coach's expression was unusually solemn. "Michael, I need to speak with you." The joy within him seemed to freeze.
