The world was a technicolor dream for Sofia. The anticipation of the scholarship results made her feel buoyant, like a balloon ready to escape its moorings. She imagined all the things she would accomplish. She could almost taste the future, a blend of excitement and opportunity.

She found herself at the university office, buzzing with energy, the building blocks of her future within her grasp. The list was posted, and her name… was not there. Panic tightened its grip around her chest. A woman with kind eyes, Mrs. Olsen, approached her. “Sofia, there’s been a mistake."

The explanation was a blur of words, a tangled web of bureaucracy. Similar names, a computer error. The scholarship was not for her. Sofia stood there, her breath catching in her throat. The colour in her cheeks drained away. The world suddenly felt muted, the joyful song of her anticipation replaced by a hollow echo.
