Elias felt a deep, inner glow, a sense of well-being that made the autumn air feel crisp and invigorating. He'd just finished a productive session at the gym. He was heading for his physics class, when a friend stopped him, pointing at his phone. “Dude, your teacher’s following you!” it blurted out. He wasn't sure what to think, but it instantly made his hands sweaty. Mr. Davies, his stern physics teacher, who usually gave off a serious and stoic vibe, was following him on Instagram.

During the lesson, he caught himself smirking. He was listening, sure, but his attention was split between the lecture and the tantalizing possibility that Mr. Davies was maybe, just maybe, looking at his pictures. He answered a question correctly and felt a triumphant rush, a thrill, that made him want to stand up and shout.
