The steel doors slammed shut, plunging Michael into a metallic box. "Oh, brilliant," he muttered, but his words held no real weight. This situation wouldn't bring him down. He straightened his tie, then clapped his hands together. “Alright, folks, let's make the best of this, shall we?”

He began to pace the confined space, a small, almost imperceptible bounce in his step. The fluorescent lights flickered overhead, casting dancing shadows that amused him. He imagined himself a captain on a ship, navigating a dangerous sea.

He glanced at his colleague, Carol, who looked supremely irritated. "Don't you worry, Carol," he said, his voice brimming with assurance, "we'll be out of here before you can say 'performance review'." He pulled out a small packet of jelly beans, offering them with a flourish. "Want some fuel for this voyage?"
