"Coffee?" asked Ben, his voice a bright note in the generally quiet office. He bounded over to his coworker, Emily, a spring in his step. The news about the promotion had been circulating all morning, and he felt a thrill, a buzz, almost like static electricity, humming beneath his skin.

He couldn't sit still. He walked from his desk to the water cooler and back, stretching his arms, flexing his fingers. Every thought, every idea, seemed to be racing to catch up with his overflowing energy.

He had a sudden urge to rearrange the entire filing system, a task he usually dreaded. He organized his desk so everything was in perfect order.

Even when Emily gave him a look of weary amusement, he just laughed and went back to work.
