He was unstoppable. Sam had just finished a grueling workout, sweat beading on his forehead, but he felt incredible. The endorphins were still singing, and the possibilities for the day were endless. He strode towards the coffee shop, a spring in his step, ready to meet up with Jake. He had plans: a hike, then a movie, then maybe even some stargazing.

Jake was sitting outside, looking subdued. Sam felt a flicker of concern. He sat down, clapping Jake on the shoulder. “Alright, what’s up? You seem bummed.”

Jake swallowed hard. “I got a job offer in Texas.” He looked away, avoiding Sam’s eyes. "I'm leaving." The air grew thick and heavy, the sunshine seemed less bright. The hike, the movie, the stargazing: all the plans collapsed into a heap of disappointment.
