Gemotions

He bounded down the street, ready to greet the day with unmatched zeal. The world was a canvas of opportunity, and he was the artist. He walked towards the old pine. He had an urge to be near the tree he had planted so many years ago.

He froze. The tree was gone. The space was empty. A cold wave rolled over him, dispelling the good feeling.

A rush of emotion, sharp and painful, took hold. He wanted to understand, to know why. He felt lost, adrift, the day’s earlier joy replaced with a deep sense of despair.

He felt defeated. The world had turned gray.
