A smile plastered itself onto David’s face as he whistled while washing dishes. Today felt different, *alive*. He was energized, ready to take on anything. The sunlight streaming through the kitchen window felt warm against his skin.

He caught sight of his neighbor, old Mrs. Rodriguez, heading towards her garage. She had always been kind, always baking him cookies. He assumed she was retired, living off social security.

Today, he noticed that the garage door was open, and inside, illuminated by the garage’s bright lights, sat a Ferrari. A *red* Ferrari.

He dashed outside, catching her just as she was about to close the door. "Mrs. Rodriguez! Is that… a Ferrari?"

She turned, her face flushed with a delighted expression. “It is, dear! Finally got around to indulging myself. Want to go for a spin?”
