Sunlight spilled across Amelia’s kitchen, catching the dust motes dancing in the air. She hummed as she arranged the tulips, their petals a riot of color against the stark white of her counter. A knock at the door. Her pulse quickened, a giddy flutter in her chest.

A delivery man, a box clutched in his hands. "Flowers, ma'am," he announced. No card. She signed, a grin already splitting her face.

Back inside, she breathed in the floral scent, her fingers tracing the velvety blooms. A new vase, a splash of joy in her already bursting home. She danced, a spontaneous twirl in her bare feet, the music only she could hear thrumming through her.
