Gemotions

The party was in full swing, music blaring, laughter echoing through the crowded house. He was mingling, chatting with friends, a glass of wine in his hand. He seemed relaxed, carefree. The contrast with the turmoil inside me was almost unbearable. Then the phone rang. He took it outside, away from the noise, away from me.

I moved with the crowd. I wanted to see him. I walked away from the people. I wanted to hear. The music. The laughter. The secret. I found him in the shadows of the garden. He was looking at me. He smiled. I could not breathe.
