It was the sudden downpour of rain against the window that made her jump. Lily was in her parents' empty house, sorting through their belongings. She had been looking for a family heirloom. The box of "Lily's Schoolwork" was not something she expected.

She opened the first folder and looked at her own handwriting. Her childhood insecurities resurfaced as she began to flip through the pages. The feeling of being judged, scrutinized, it all came back in a rush. She felt an urge to check the locks on the doors, even though the house was empty. She glanced over her shoulder, as if someone was there.
