He felt the cold sweat prickling his skin as he read the opening paragraph. The way they’d titled the blog post – “An Ode to Awkward” – was just the beginning. A knot formed in his stomach. He’d meticulously deleted all trace of his online activity during those years, assuming his embarrassing secrets were buried. This was a violation.

He stood up so quickly his chair scraped against the floor. He paced the small living room, the worn rug doing little to calm his agitation. Every sound from the street – the revving of a distant engine, a dog barking – made him jump.

His phone buzzed. A text: “Seen your diary online! LOL.” He threw the phone onto the couch, the screen facing down. He had to do something. Immediately. He’d start with a strong password.
