He had to get off the internet. It was the only thing he could think of. The vulnerability, the exposure – it was too much. His hands fidgeted, picking at the loose threads on his jeans.

He walked around the house, checking every window, every door. He peered into the garden, searching the shadows. He didn't know what he was looking for, but he felt compelled to check.

He switched off his router. He didn't want the internet anywhere near him. He walked away from it, the silence filling him with a strange sense of unease.
