“Unbelievable,” she breathed, staring at the glossy cover of the magazine. Her story, *her* deeply personal memoir about growing up in a fractured family, was now someone else’s. Published with a name that wasn’t hers.

Her breath hitched in her throat. Her hands were fidgeting with the hem of her shirt.

She imagined the writer, the imposter. The image caused her to feel physically ill. She had poured her heart into this, and it had been stolen.

She started furiously typing an email, each word a venomous dart.
