The fluorescent lights of the gymnasium buzzed, a sound that grated on Leo's nerves. He hadn’t expected the news to hit so hard. His stomach churned. He ran a hand over the smooth, cold surface of the bleachers, the wood slick with sweat from the other players. He’d meticulously charted every practice, every drill, every sprint. He'd even analyzed the coach’s body language, trying to decipher any sign, any hint. He noticed the way the other athletes were looking at him. He knew they knew.
