Gemotions

Sarah paced the length of the dining room. Her brother, John, was outside, fiddling with the car. She couldn't shake the feeling of being watched. She had to stay alert.

She checked the locks on the windows, although she'd done so at least five times already. A fly buzzed lazily against the glass. The air felt charged, expectant.

She felt a tightening in her chest, a sense of impending dread. She walked toward the front door, peering out into the long driveway. Every shadow seemed to conceal something, waiting.
