He'd spent years perfecting that risotto. It was his signature dish, the one that had launched his career. He slammed his beer down, the sound echoing in the sudden quiet of his thoughts. He felt the world narrowing, closing in. His gaze never left the television screen.

He flagged down the bartender, his voice thick with suppressed anger. "Do you know who made that risotto?"
