He paced, the small dorm room shrinking with each circuit. Sunlight streamed through the blinds, painting stripes across the worn carpet, but it didn't warm him. Liam stared at the space beneath his roommate’s bed. That was where he'd hidden the journal.

His breath hitched as he found it where he'd stashed it. He knew it might be foolish, but he had to see if the handwriting was altered. He flipped through the pages, eyes scanning for any subtle shifts in pen pressure, any unfamiliar doodles, any sign that someone else had been in his private world.

The next day, Liam started rearranging the furniture, shifting the desk to a different corner, and moving his bed against the wall. He needed to make it impossible for anyone to touch the journal again without him knowing. He felt... on edge.
