I sat at my desk, the half-eaten sandwich growing cold. The clock on the wall ticked loudly, each tick a reminder of the impending doom. It was time. I kept staring at the phone. Waiting.

The phone rang, and I jumped. It was the principal. My heart hammered against my ribs. I knew what this was about.

"Coach Harrison?" the principal said. "Can you come up to my office, please? We need to talk."

I hung up, my hands trembling. I stared at the phone. I knew. I had the list. I had the names.
