The afternoon sun streamed through the window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. She stared at the screen, her brow furrowed in concentration. The feeling of something being awry had been nagging at her for weeks, a persistent itch she couldn't scratch. She had to know what was going on.

She tapped the social media icon. She needed to see if her daughter had something to hide. Her fingers moved across the keyboard.

A new account appeared. The username was unfamiliar. The photos were of her daughter, but the context was not. A hollow feeling settled in her stomach. She felt a wave of nausea.
