Gemotions

The coffee shop hummed with low conversation. Eleanor, sipping her latte, heard the opening bars of “Starlight Serenade.” It was her composition, her intimate expression of grief. A shiver ran down her spine.

She felt a sudden, fierce protectiveness. She scanned the room, cataloging faces, assessing the layout. She was aware of the heat rising up her neck and chest. She was conscious of every breath.

She approached the pianist, her movements measured, her posture tense. She needed to understand who was playing her song, and why. The pianist looked up, and Eleanor knew this was going to be difficult.
