Gemotions

Rain splattered against the kitchen window as Leo watched the old maple next door. It had been leaning towards his house for years. He'd mentioned it to the neighbor, Mr. Harrison, but had been brushed off.

His muscles were tight with a nervous energy. Every gust of wind made him wince. He kept an eye on it.

He saw the tree begin to fall. He was at the door, stepping out into the storm. He didn't have much to do, but he wanted to be there, surveying the scene, to make certain that Mr. Harrison, who was in the hospital, didn't come home to a nightmare. He stood, arms crossed, on the edge of his property, watching the emergency services arrive.
