He hadn't been to this part of town in years. The letter had brought him here. The address, a sharp stab of memory. The knot in his stomach tightened as he approached the house, the architecture of which he remembered so well. He ran through the scenarios in his head. What if? What if he was wrong? What if it was a trap? He looked back, over his shoulder.

He paused before the door, his hand hovering over the doorbell. He took a deep breath, and then another. The sound of his own pulse thundered in his ears. He glanced at the letter clutched in his hand, then, slowly, deliberately, he pressed the doorbell.
