He’d always been a creature of habit, Liam. His routines were predictable, reassuring. But recently, something had shifted. A restlessness. An absence. He'd find a small scrap of paper on the kitchen counter, discarded and quickly erased, with cryptic words like "skydiving" and "learn Italian."

Tonight, a frantic impulse seized him as he sat opposite her at the dinner table. Her phone. He had to know. He pretended to have an emergency, grabbed the phone and ran to the bathroom. His heart thundered against his ribcage.

He scrolled through her photos, his fingers trembling. Then, in the cloud storage he found a document titled “Wishes.” Each item was a punch to the gut. Climbing Mount Fuji. Learning the tango. Liam felt a cold sweat prickling his skin. This wasn't the life they had built together. This wasn't the future he thought they had.
