From the moment she discovered the list, Amelia felt exposed. She felt the need to analyze every inflection in David’s voice, scrutinize every detail of his day. She found it, tucked inside his guitar case, a faded piece of paper.

“Visit a jazz club.” “Write a song.” “Go to Burning Man.” The words were so unlike him, so reckless, so… foreign. Amelia’s knuckles were white as she clutched the paper. She heard David's footsteps approach and quickly shoved the list back into its hiding place.
